Holy Week 2019

Palm Sunday

April 14, 11:00 a.m.

Palm Processional – Children gather in the chapel at 10:50 am to sing and receive palms for our Palm Sunday processional. This simple and fun processional happens during the first hymn, so no special timing or prep needed! Just show up with your kids and head to the side chapel.

Maundy Thursday Communal Meal

April 18, 7:00 p.m.

Our Holy Week communal meal is specially geared to be family-friendly. Grapes, hummus, carrot sticks will give them plenty to eat. There will also be a central rug area with “work” materials such as coloring, reading, and clay for the kids to use as needed during the service. The service is interactive and encourages our littlest (and oldest!) to eat, ask questions, worship, and pray.

Ecumenical Service at Christ Church Georgetown
April 19, 12:00 p.m.
The Procession begins at Grace Church 1041 Wisconsin Ave NW at 11 a.m. and the Service of the Seven Last Words begins at 12 noon at Christ Church Georgetown.

Good Friday Tenebrae

 April 19, 7:00 p.m.

“Tenebrae” means shadows or darkness in Latin. During this service we extinguish candles as we read the passion story. Through prayers, singing, and meditation we contemplate the suffering of Christ. The service ends in silence and darkness as we wait for the celebration of Easter. Recommended for children elementary age and up. Child care not available.

Easter Sunday

April 21, 9:30 a.m. & 11: 15 a.m.

Rev. Dr. Camille Cook Murray preaches “In Good Company”

These are two identical services. There will be children’s worship during both of our Easter Services.

Easter Egg Hunt

April 21, 10:40 a.m.

Between services we will have an Easter Egg Hunt for children 5th grade and below. Children will start to gather in the Georgetown Room at 10:40 a.m. to decorate their Easter bags and then the hunt will start at 10:55 a.m. in various locations around the church.
