Rev. Christopher Chatelaine-Samsen, Associate Pastor for Mission & Young Adults
Chris Chatelaine-Samsen began serving as GPC’s first Associate Pastor for Mission in June 2014, and later shifted to the Associate Pastor for Mission and Young Adults in May 2018. Born in New York and raised in Connecticut, Chris attended Wesleyan University, studying Economics and Music. Having graduated during the precipice of a major economic downturn, he decided that youth ministry would be a more lucrative career than finance, as well as a better fulfilment of his sense of vocation. He attended Princeton Theological Seminary where he received an M.Div., and met his wife, Katie, a Lutheran pastor. Having lived in D.C. now more than half a decade (an eternity in D.C. years), he also works at Wesley Theological Seminary at the Birch House Intentional Community, and serves on the boards of The Potter’s House (pottershousedc.org) and the Remember Niger Coalition (rememberniger.org). Meanwhile at GPC, he’s launched innovative new ministries to our unhoused neighbors, developed exciting partnerships across the city, and travelled around the world to connect with long-standing ministry partners. With the young adults group, he's excited to invest in new, innovate ministry practices, while fostering the leadership of the next generation. Also, he’s designed most of the banners that hang from GPC’s porch.
Chris and Katie love living in D.C. with their hilariously awkward Pit/Boxer mix Kisco, and are always looking for recommendations for a good hike or bike ride in the area!To contact Rev. Christopher Chatelaine-Samsen please use the form below or call the office (202) 338-1644.
