Welcome to GPC.

Since 1780, The Georgetown Presbyterian Church has worshipped in Georgetown and served our neighborhood, city, and world. We hope you find GPC welcoming, challenging, and empowering.

Welcome to Georgetown Presbyterian Church – a church in the center of our nation’s capital with a heart for worship, service, and education. We hope you will visit us and experience the warmth and welcome of our growing community. Our congregation is held together by a common desire to be faithful to Christ’s call to discipleship. While proud of our history, we are excited about how God is calling us to be faithful today in our corner of the kingdom.

For more information about our church, our theological positions, our denomination, and how we’re governed, please take a look at Who We Are and Our Mission and Vision.

FAQs

What is worship like?

We tend to worship traditionally, relying on liturgy, hymns, and an organ and choir. Worship is an hour long beginning at 11 a.m. for most of the year, and 10 a.m. during the summer months between Memorial Day and Labor Day.

Are children welcome?

Of course! Children are always welcome during worship! We also have a room with the service on a TV where you and you children can take a break, and nursery care that begins during adult education at 9:30. We also have other ways for children to engage. At about 15 minutes into the service, children ages 2 through 5th grade are welcome to leave the sanctuary for age-appropriate worship and learning. During the year (aside from summer), children through 5th grade are welcome to join us at 9:45 a time of singing, engaging Bible stories, and other learning activities. We also have youth group programming on Sunday evenings for middle and high school aged students. More information is available at our Children's Programs page.

Do you have educational opportunities for adults?

We love learning! On Sunday mornings, join us for our “Adult Education Class” that begins at 9:45 a.m. and covers a wide range of topics. We also host weekly Bible studies at church and in homes. More information on this is at Adult Education.

Can I get married at GPC? Can my child be baptized here?

Yes to both! However, we believe that both marriage and baptism takes place in a supportive community. If you would like to make GPC your church home and become a member, we would love to have your wedding here, and we welcome your child into our community! We also host weddings for family of members. Please remember that we’re a church family, not a venue. More information is at Baptisms, Weddings, and Funerals.

Can I talk to a pastor?

The pastors here at GPC would love to talk to you. The best ways to do so are call, email, or just say “hi” on Sunday.
